Facebook ’em, Danno!

Geek amusement of the day comes from Tom Watson and Chris Paul, who are gloating to various degrees over the Facebook humbling of South Manchester MP/Councillor John Leech, after it was exposed that his Labour rival for the seat, Lucy Powell, had 124 times his number of friends. Politeness (and a keen awareness that I don’t have too many facepals myself) keeps me from mentioning the exact size of Mr Leech’s online entourage – you’ll have to click.

Both of our Mancunian combatants seem to be beating a dignified retreat though, with Leech managing the not inconsiderable feat of closing his Facebook account post haste, and Powell locking her profile down very discreetly.

Looks like any further juvenile fun will have to be had elsewhere then. How about…

Nick Clegg v Chris Huhne

A little bit apples and pears, but here goes… Nick has 11 fans, and only one wall post, but it’s a good one from Sam Clegg: “don’t even like u or ur policies just fan for namesake”. Chris on the other hand has a very sociable 553 friends.

Boris Johnson v Ken Livingstone

“Boris doesn’t have any confirmed friends yet”, whilst “Ken has 2290 friends”. Hmmm.

And now the main event. Drumroll please…

Kerron Cross v Iain Dale
Kerron puts in a plucky performance with 618 friends, but the smug one storms it again with a whopping 1398 Facepals. Dale is the daddy!

And in related news, Alex Hilton pleads guilty, gets six months.

Pls to share (thanks!):

  1. Cheers for the link John. Mr Leech does have a new-ish disapproval group, calling him to apologise for his Christie Cancer Hospital Closure Hoax … and Boris does of course have some massive fan groups … New Post on the Bozzer is now close to fruition.
